Catch A Purple Balloon For Prizes In Nottingham

Devised in Nottingham, Purple Flag Week originally took place last September and was designed to celebrate the city's retained Purple Flag status awarded by the Association of Town Centre Management (ATCM) which recognises Nottingham as a varied and safe and clean place for a night out.

Over five days last year, key buildings in the city centre were illuminated in purple and over 150 people took part in a Twilight Walk around Nottingham where special offers were available at bars and restaurants.

The event, which was a collaboration between We Are Nottingham Leisure, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police and other city centre partners, was seen as such a success that the ACTM  have now made it a national celebration and 25 locations, including Liverpool, Belfast and Bristol will now hold their own Purple Flag Week between September 22-30.

And as the city where it all started, Nottingham has been invited to host the official launch event on September 21 at the Council House. Representatives from the other cities and towns will attend a special reception and 250 purple balloons will then be released in Nottingham city centre, each containing a unique offer for a venue in the city, whilst a limited number will entitle whoever finds one to a VIP trip to a Purple Flag location- so get ready to grab them, Nottingham!
