Nottingham Listed As Candidate City In The International Institute Of Compassionate Cities

In July this year, the In Kind Notts group held a very successful Random Acts Of Kindness event in Nottingham city centre to promote greater kindness and compassion in society which you can read about here. They followed this by carrying out another event at the Headstock Festival in Newstead giving out free flowers, cakes, hugs and free friendship bracelets, handmade by In Kind. This was combined with the 'Kindness Challenge' where festival-goers were offered the chance to pick a challenge from a 'lucky dip' basket and then go and do it, with challenges including smiling at a stranger, giving up your place in a queue, carrying someone's shopping or a whole range of simple acts that anyone could do every day.

The In Kind group also collected signatures for the global Charter of Compassion and Nottingham is now officially listed as a candidate on the International Institute of Compassionate Cities website here. In Kind are now working to have Nottingham declared as a City of Compassion and have started a new on-line petition which they are encouraging everyone to sign.
