Vote Now In The Nottingham Lifestyle Awards For A Chance To Win An iPad 2

Voting is now open to everyone in the very first Nottingham Lifestyle Awards which will be taking place in the city in 2012. With the motto 'Celebrating The Best Of A Great City' the event is being organised by Nottingham-born Mayah Riaz from Mayah Consultancy and aims to recognise the local people and businesses who help put Nottingham on the map.

"Nottingham has so much to offer, we're slap bang, right in the centre of the country with great shopping and great cultural offerings," explains Mayah. "Normally there are business awards for people in their own sector but the Nottingham Lifestyle Awards involves the whole of the city, from retailers to coffee shops, to restaurants to hairdressers to local attractions to anyone who makes an outstanding contribution in the city, whether it's in volunteering or in the private or public sector. There have been a lot of negative things said about Nottingham in the past with its gun crime history so we decided to create the awards to celebrate all the positive sides of the city and bring some glamour back!"

There are eighteen categories in the awards including Nottingham Fashion Retailer of the Year and Ethical Contribution to Nottingham and everyone is invited to vote as many times as they choose. "The categories are open to businesses and individuals and we've made it as inclusive as we possible can. Anyone who wants to vote can go on to our website and vote for the company of their choice and we will then contact them to let them know they've been nominated. Our judging panel will then decide upon a winner and there will be an Awards Ceremony in Nottingham in March next year so we want to give people plenty of time to get voting! We are still choosing a venue for the ceremony so if anyone would like to get in touch and suggest their venue, feel free.

"We'll also getting a Street Team together and we'll be hitting the streets of Nottingham talking to local people about what they like about the city and we'll be making a series of short videos so anyone who wants to join in the street team or any businesses who would like be featured in the videos, get in touch!"

Any local businesses who would like to get involved with sponsoring the awards can email victoria@mayahconsultancy.co.uk
