Nottingham Caribbean Carnival August 14 2011

Nottingham Caribbean Carnival
So the Riverside Festival might have packed away and left but where one festival ends, another begins because this weekend for one day only on August 14 you can catch the Nottingham Caribbean Carnival at the Forest Recreation Ground (Goose Fair Site) and it's FREE!

Nottingham Caribbean Carnival Big Parade
Running from 12 noon-9.30pm the festival is headlined by Reggie legend Ken Boothe and will feature R&B and Soul acts performing throughout the day. Along with the obligatory festival stalls, food and funfair rides, there are also opportunities to try out zorbing, quad bikes and water inflatables.

And at 2pm it's The Big Parade! Starting from Castle Gate in the City Centre, you can follow and join in with all the singing and dancing as the parade makes its way though Nottingham taking in Long Row, Lower Parliament Street and Shakespeare Street all the way up Forest Road until it reaches the Carnival on the Forest Recreation Ground at 5pm where choreographed dance troupes will be having a competition.

But if that's not enough for you and you want to keep that carnival atmosphere going on just a little bit longer, Dogma bar in Nottingham will also be hosting a Caribbean Carnival after-party from 9pm-3am hosted by Red Bull Music Academy and The Elementz. Entry is free and the event kicks off with a BBQ and DJs on the ground floor and then moves down to the basement at 9pm. More details of the after party are available on their Facebook page
