The new label, called Somerset by Alice Temperley, has been created exclusively for John Lewis, and features Lily Donaldson modelling the designs.
Trained at London's Central Saint Martin's College of Art with a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art, Alice Temperley specialized in fabric technology and print and was awarded Hollywood Designer of the Year at the Hollywood Style Awards in 2011.
"We have spent the last ten years building our lines and Somerset will compliment our existing collections; it is a very accessible product that will take our aesthetic to a wider audience. I wanted it to be very much a collection of essentials and to design a collection that would provide a feminine and functional wardrobe for women in their everyday life," says Alice.
This new sixty piece collection draws inspiration from established Temperley handwriting with accents which include Bohemia, Victoriana, lace, military, embellishment, monochrome, chiffon, animal print and leather.
From beaded Indian evening gowns to sheer panelled two tone dresses with a full range of accessories from pony skin slippers to wide snakeskin-effect belts, studded nappa leather handbags and animal print scarves, the collection exhibits both classic and well known Temperley favourites and a second phase dedicated mainly to partywear will launch early in October.
Somerset by Alice Temperley is now available in store at Nottingham John Lewis and also on the John Lewis website www.johnlewis.com/somerset
